The Only Network to Provide Live Coverage of Speaker Pelosi? It's Not CNN or MSNBC

pelosi_11.7.jpgSo, we wonder if the White House still thinks Fox News is "not a news network." Tonight, Fox News was the only news channel [other than C-SPAN] to provide live coverage of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi making her way to the house chamber, then speaking to members ahead of tonight's vote on health care reform. CNN stayed with a taped replay of The Situation Room. MSNBC was airing a crime documentary, but mentioned that Pelosi was speaking during a scheduled live cut-in. FNC and MSNBC have teased they'll have coverage of the vote when it happens. CNN returns to live coverage at 7pmET.

'20/20' is #1, Best A18-34 Rating in 3 Years

2020_11.7.jpgABC was #1 last in the A18-49 demo thanks in part to the ABC News magazine "20/20."

Last night's show featured several reports on the Ft. Hood massacre as well as Diane Sawyer's interview with Rihanna, speaking for the first time about being attacked by her then-boyfriend, singer Chris Brown last February.

"20/20" won its time period in Total Viewers (8.2M) and A18-49 (2.7 rating/9 share). The Elizabeth Vargas-hosted show was also Friday's #1 TV show across each of the key demos: A18-34 (2.3/9), A18-49 (2.7/9) and A25-54 (3.1/9).

This was the show's biggest audience in more than 7 months and its best A18-34 rating in almost 3 years -- since Dec. 1, 2006.

CNN Special on Ft. Hood Shootings

Tonight at 8pmET, CNN premieres a Special Investigation into the Ft. Hood massacre. The one-hour live special is anchored by Don Lemon, with on-site reporting from Ft. Hood by CNN national correspondent David Mattingly and CNN investigative correspondent Drew Griffin.

Bill O'Reilly Explains Why Viewers Chose FOX for Ft. Hood Coverage: 'The Media Guard Has Changed'

Bill O'Reilly called out The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, and CNN over some of their coverage of the Ft. Hood massacre -- which, in O'Reilly's view, blamed the wars instead of the killer, Nidal Malik Hasan, for the rampage. "The guy is either a Muslim terrorist or a crazy person. That's it. Those are the choices," said O'Reilly of Hasan.

"We did 5 million viewers at 8 O'Clock, wiped out CNN and MSNBC, wiped them off the face of the earth. The guard has changed in this country. The media guard has changed. And you know why people came in here, because they knew they were going to get an honest story. They weren't going to get spin that Hasan is some kind of post-traumatic syndrome victim. Some kind of victim of a terrible public policy gone awry. They're not going to get that..... I almost said a bad word. They're not going to get that garbage here."

O'Reilly's guest Bernie Goldberg also gave a new name to the mainstream media:

Morning Joe - Starbucks Deal Set In...Wallpaper

AMJoe_11.7.jpgTVNewser hears MSNBC's Morning Joe is getting a new green room which includes custom made wallpaper with the Starbucks logo. In June, MSNBC entered into an agreement with Starbucks which made the coffee maker the official sponsor of the show. We hear construction will continue this weekend and the new space will be unveiled on Monday's show.

Fmr. Congressman Walks off MSNBC Set

On Friday's "Ed Show', with David Shuster filling in, former GOP congressman Tom Tancredo took offense to something said by Daily Kos' Markos Moulitsas as the two discussed healthcare reform. It ended with Tancredo taking off his mic, and leaving the set.

"The congressman is always welcome on the show," said Shuster. "We always appreciate hearing his point of view, it's a feisty one and that's what we like around here."

Eyes on Nov. 16 for Comcast-NBCU Deal

CNBC's David Faber reports on the impending acquisition of his network's parent company. "General Electric and Comcast are now expected to announce a deal over GE's NBC Universal unit on Nov. 16, not next week as originally thought," Faber writes on CNBC.com. GE will shed 51% of NBC Universal to Comcast and hold the remaining 49%.

Brian Williams Leaves 30 Rock for "30 Rock"

NBC "Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams made his acting debut returned to "30 Rock" playing himself, (and playing Nicky Mortarulo of Scotch Plains, NJ) last night. He was in two short scenes. Here's one of them:

> More: Tony Mortarulo of Scotch Plains, NJ is Williams' real-life uncle.
