Same goes for TrailBlazer magazine out of Prescott Valley, AZ. Slow or no payment to writers and designers.

GreenSceneUSA.com - payment warning
Please encourage everyone to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau so that others are forewarned. She is not just doing this to writers - she has done it to every individual involved in the development of the site. As independent contractors we are powerless. Thank you for posting this as all we can do is try to help others so it doesn't continue!

GreenScene
I developed the entire GreenScene website, database and administrative systems (not the content or design). The owner continuously said they were going to pay, and kept sidestepping the payment issue and talking about new developments instead. After the account defaulted, we were locked out and they kept the site live without paying us a penny. Right before this they also indicated they were hiring new developers. For your sake - and your bank account - PLEASE do not work with this company. You'll be happy you didn't.

GreenSceneUSA
I was the founding editor of greensceneusa.com and did receive some payment for some of my up-front work in getting the site to launch, but am still out several thousand dollars for a month of work for which the proprietor, Vicki Harrer, refuses to pay me. She continuously promised to pay the writers, who naturally complained to me when they did not receive their checks. A couple of writers did receive a check but then discovered that payment had been stopped on it. Six writers wrote many stories and received not a cent for their work. They are owed about $10,000 in all. Harrer fired me the day after I told her I would do no more work until she showed me proof that checks had gone out to the writers. If you are working for the site now, demand payment or demand your work is taken down. If you are considering working for the site, don't. As mentioned by our web master/designer in a separate comment, Harrer did this to every person in the company and is now off doing it to the next group.

GreenSceneUSA.com
I designed all the graphics for the site, have a signed contract and remain totally unpaid while the founder, Vicki Harrer, capitalizes. DO NOT BE FOOLED. DO NOT CYCLE YOUR ENERGY or time into this pocket.

GreenSceneUSA
I was one of the Sales Executives with GreenSceneUSA. I signed a contract, and was only paid partial pay. Vicki Harrer the owner of GreenSceneUSA has failed to pay me close to $10,000. I have tried to contact her by phone, email and she continues to avoid me and my efforts to get paid by her. Please be forwarned. Do not work with this lady!!

I too did some work and have not been paid by Vicki Harrer, president of GreensceneUSA. Please do your due diligence on this individual before you agree to do any work for her. You have been forewarned!

GreenSceneUSA
I have worked for GreenSceneUSA for almost four months now. I enjoy working for the company and the owner Vicki Harrer is a really nice person. None of the people listed on this post write content for this website. You can verify this on their website. Some of the people are former contractors who have been blackballing this company on the internet for months. I know the company had some problems with funding early on as all start ups do but have since been working through the problems. These posts are exaggerations or complete untruths and I am very disapointed in Media Bistro for allowing this trash to be posted on their website.

GreenSceneUSA
One additional comment. Several of these people traded their services for a piece of the company and then backed out of the deal. One charged the company four times the amount she contracted for. They all signed non-disclosure agreements but that hasn't stopped them from selling the concept of this website to another company.

These people are not out to get paid they are just trying to destroy this business. If they wanted to get paid you would think they would contact the company directly not post a bunch of nonsense on a forum for writers. This was only done to stop writers from working for this company. They have even gone so far as to call writers who work for the company. Too bad for them that most people see this for what it is - trash!

As I said before I like GreenSceneUSA and respect what they stand for. And yes I get paid for my work.

So where is my check?
This message is to Greenie 30 who is happy and is getting paid. I am glad to hear that the company has turned around financially and able to pay you. Having said that if the company has indeed turnaround financially then the right thing to do is for Vicki Harrer to contact everyone she has not paid and make payment arrangements to compensate for the past work that has been done. I resigned on May 5th, 2008 since that time several email exchanges were conducted advising my check was in the mail. As of the date of this blog write up I still have not been paid nor has Vicki contacted me to make payment arrangements.

Everyone has a right to share their experiences in this blog whether good or bad.

Sharing a good or bad experience is fine. But this is unprofessional. If you really want to get paid then you should contact the company. If your claim is legitimate than I am sure you will get paid. The mailing address is the same or contact our attorney's office. These posts on the internet serve no one and are childish.

non payment
Perhaps Jessica 30 would like to see the numerous emails I have requesting payment. And no one backed out of any stock deals. I'm holding a contract that promises payment to me of $1,000 of stock in lieu of partial payment for my services. I tried to cash it in but Vicki Harrer refused. In fact, she didn't even bother to reply. Trade shows have dropped her, I've spoken with advertisers who were overcharged...it goes on and on. All the people who have commented and have much better things to do with their time than write comments about greensceneusa.com are taking the time to comment in an effort to 1) help others to avoid getting ripped off and 2) to make it hard for her to continue to operate.

maintenance
Hey folks, I just dropped in to do a little maintaining in this thread. I deleted and banned whatever yahoo posted his ad for cheap term papers. *sigh.* And meiwah, I changed that one subject heading to read the way your second post said you intended it.

I also removed some editorializing and invective from some of the previous posts, mostly personal stuff. You'll find the substance of your complaints unchanged.

This is a spirited discussion, which we encourage on our site of course, but we'd also like to remind everyone to confine your comments to your own experiences. The more a thread like this sticks to the facts of the situation, the more compelling it is.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!
